 Mike PenroseHead Coach (ACE-Senior)Email
Coach Penrose has been associated with LST since 1995, coaching
various age-groups along the way. From coaching the A Group
(Thunder/Lightning) to the Seniors, running clinics, serving as
club President to being the
Lawrence
Township
liaison for the club.
Currently, he is serving LST as the Head Coach and
President of the Board of Directors.
Mike
has been teaching and
coaching at
Lawrence
North
High School for 16 years
.
He has been named
Marion County Boys Coach of the Year five times (2001 - 2003, 2006,
2009) and Marion County Girls Coach of the Year four times (2006 -
2009), Boys Sectional Coach of the Year in 2002, 2003, and 2010 and
Girls Sectional Coach of the Year from 2007 – 2010. Coach Penrose also received
the prestigious St. Vincent Spirit of Sport Integrity Coach of the
Year Award in 2008.
From 2002 – 2004 he led the boy’s team to a spot in the
NISCA National Top 25 dual meet rankings. LN has produced 12 All-Americans
and 14 Academic All-Americans in Penrose’s tenure as head
coach. Several LN
alumni have participated on collegiate swimming and diving
teams. The Wildcat
Girls have won the sectional title three straight years (2008-2010)
and won the
Marion
County
title this winter for the first time since 1986, ending North
Central’s 15 year winning streak, and the Wildcat boys
won the sectional title this season for their
first sectional crown in 20
years.
A transplanted Hoosier
originally from the Pittsburgh area, Mike swam for the New Castle
Trojans in high school, setting several club and school
records. He
attended
Butler
University
on an academic/athletic scholarship, where he was a member of the
school record setting 200 free relay team while swimming for the
Bulldogs. He
teaches Honors Pre-Calculus, Algebra II, and Geometry at LN. He and his wife Joy have
two children; Emma (11) and Jacob (9), both students at Forest Glen
Elementary in
Lawrence
Township
.
In his spare time,
Mike enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, camping,
and cheering on the Colts, Pacers, Indians, and of course his
beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
Coach Penrose is a
member of several professional organizations including NISCA, ASCA,
MCGCA, ICGSA, IHSSCA and is certified by United States Swimming.
Coach Penrose has
served the swimming community of
Indiana
as President of the Indiana High School Swimming Coaches
Association from 2004-20008 and Vice-President of the Indiana High
School Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame from 2006-2008. He currently serves on the
board of directors of the Indiana High School Swimming & Diving
Hall of Fame and the Indiana High School Swimming Coaches
Association, and is a member of
Castleton
United
Methodist
Church.
 Meg OsborneHead Age Group Coach (Tornadoes)Email
Coach Meg received a Bachelor of
Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Indiana
University in 1982 with an aquatics minor and a coaching emphasis.
She attended Columbia City Joint HIgh School (1978) and Culver
Military Academy Summer School (1977).
Coach Meg grew up swimming for Columbia
City Swim Team (summer league), Warsaw YMCA (8-under), and Club
Olympia (now Fort Wayne Aquatics) where she was a AAU Jr
Olympic State Finalist from 1973 through 1978. She swam for
Indiana University from 1978 - 1981 where she was a Big Ten
Finalist.
During the day, Meg is President
of MEG & Associates, an event planning, promotions and
fund-raising company. For example, Chick-fil-A at the
Crossing is one of her clients.
Her husband, Brad is a Realtor
with CENTURY 21 Realty Group. They have Rob (23 years old - a
football player and swimmer for Heritage Christian, Katie (22 years
old - 14 time All American and National swimmer for North Central
and WTSC) and Scott (15 year old swimmer for LST)

 Susan AndersonCoach (Storm)Email
Susan is an
ASCA Level 2 coach and has been coaching for LST since April of
2003, first with the Lightning group, then moving into
the Storm group coaching slot. Susan was a competitive high
school and college swimmer, and has taught and coached swimming
since high school. With high expectations for the Storm group,
Susan enjoys watching all the swimmers work hard to expand their
potential in the sport and is looking forward to a phenomenal
season. Susan is married to Brent (a non-swimmer) and has
three daughters, Kristen, 18 (Freshman at IU), Meghan, 16 (junior
at LN on the varsity soccer team) and Taryn, 14 (LST and LN varsity
swimmer). LET’S GO BEARCATS!
 Meghan MilesCoach (Thunder-Lightning)Email
Meghan recently graduated
from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Tourism Management. She currently is working with
Primrose of West Fishers and also part-time for Radio
Disney. As for her swimming background, Meghan swam for
the Carmel Swim Club and the Southeastern Swim Club for eight
years, then swam for Hamilton Southeastern High School on the
varsity team for two years. She also coached for Windermere,
Legends at Geist, and the Fishers YMCA. Meghan is very
excited to be coaching for the Lawrence Swim Team! She loves
teaching children how to improve their stroke development and
learning to have a passion for swimming, just as she was taught as
a young swimmer! Her love and passion for swimming is
in my blood. Meghan's father, Mike Miles, was a state
champion and record holder while at North Central High School; her
sister Katie swam at Hamilton Southeastern High School and Miami of
Ohio; and her sister Jennifer is currently a swimmer at Ball State
University. To top that, Meghan's Aunt Jennifer was a member
of the 1976 Olympic swim team in Montreal, Canada, and was an
American record holder in two events!!
 Vanessa WilkinsCoach (Torricanes)Email
Vanessa is in her first full season as the Torricanes coach with
LST. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree
in elementary education and a minor in aquatic
administration. Vanessa started swimming at the age of 12 and
developed into a very good swimmer in high school, where she swam
for the Jay County Patriots. After high school, she became
the head coach of the Randolph County YMCA Sharks in
Winchester, IN, where she coached for three years. She moved
on to the Cardinal Swim Club in Muncie, where she coached for the
previous two seasons. While living in Muncie, Vanessa
expanded her coaching skills into supervising numerous
learn-to-swim programs with the Muncie Burris Laboratory School,
Ball State University Recreation Program, Muncie Recreation, and
the Halteman Village Swim Club. Vanessa likes to concentrate
on fundamentals, technique, and creating a love for swimming in her
detail-orientated workouts.
 Whitney MilesCoach (Thunder-Lightning)Email
Whitney is in her first season with the Lawrence Swim Team,
coaching the Thunder and Lightning groups. She began swimming
competitively at the age of 8 years old and fell in love with the
sport of swimming. She graduated from Warren Central High
School where she swam for the Warriors, and then went on to the
University of Indianapolis where she was a swimmer for the
Greyhounds. She graduated from U of I with a double major in
Elementary Eucation and Spanish. Whitney is currently an
elementary teacher in Warren Township. She is looking forward
to coaching with the Bearcats this season! Please welcome
Whitney to the LST family!
 Martha KoenSwim America Site Supervisor - CoachEmail
Martha was born on the Welsh
Border,in Britain. She swam competitively to a national
level, and graduated from Sussex University in
FineArt. She has been in education most of herworking life as
a teacher, and is also a practising artist and writer.
Martha has coached swim teams and has taught many lessons and
ran a successful Swim America program at her previous club. She
also swim swith a masters team. Martha is married with 6 children,all of whom are
grown. She loves to teach and coach young children!
 Janice NolanSwim America Site Supervisor - CoachEmail

Indianapolis
native, Janice graduated
from
Howe
High
School, IPS. She is also a graduate of Miami
University and the University of Cincinnati. Janice has
worked in the aquatics field for over 30 years in both public
and private facility settings. She has been involved
with AAU-USS swim teams, high school swimming, and
collegiate swimming. She is certified through both the
YMCA and the American Red Cross and is the Lawrence Central pool
manager. Janice lives in Lawrence Township with her two sons.
She still follows her college
teams devotedly, likes to read and visit the beach whenever she
can. She loves to
takes crazy vacations, like whitewater rafting, rock climbing, and
hiking!
